Fenerbahce expected to make a move for Romain Sato

L'ala africana verso l'addio al Panathinaikos

With Simone Pianigiani on his way to move to Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul, a lot of names are linked to the Turkish team for the coming season.
The first one is Bo McCalebb, one of the best point guards in Europe. The American player with passport from FYROM has contract with Siena without buyout (for both NBA and Europe) and clubs interested in him have to negotiate with Ferdinando Minucci. The amount requested by Siena is around 2M of euros, according to rumors.

But there is another player who might interest Fenerbahce: Romain Sato. The African small forward has played with Siena, under coach Pianigiani, for four seasons winning four Italian titles. In the summer 2010 Sato left Montepaschi because he had a dream: to win Euroleague. The small forward moved to Panathinaikos and in May 2011 he made his dream to be true: winning the most important European competiiton in Barcelona, beating Maccabi Tel Aviv in the final. His second year with Panathinaikos was not as the first one, with a minor role and less decisive balls in his hands, despite his big contract.
Sato has a rich contract for one more season with the Greek team (more than $2M) but the amount is too high for Panathinaikos who can buyout the deal by July 1st. The two parts didn't reach already the agreement yet but Panathinaikos doesn't want to count on Sato for the future, also considering the cut in the budget.
When the situation with Panathinaikos will be more clear and Sato will be free agent, Fenerbahce is expected to make a move for him considering his loyalty to Simone Pianigiani and his great relation with the coach who launched him to the most important European basketball.

In the last hours another name was linked to Fenerbahce, Ksystof Lavrinovic. But the PF just extended his contract with Montepaschi Siena and his departure is very unlikely.
