Scottie Wilbekin: ''I want to play for Turkish National Team''
Darüşşafaka Basket guard Wilbekin made some statements about his goals and Turkish National Team.
Darüşşafaka Basket's successful player Scottie Wilbekin made some statements to Doğan Haber Ajansı (DHA) before the semi final game against Bayern Munich.
Wilbekin, ''I have one personal aim; to be better and to improve myself from last year and the other years. I will only achieve my goals in that way.''
American player who says that every team competes in EuroCup have only one goal, ''We had the championship goal like them at first but its more realistic now. This is a factual goal for us. No matter where u compete, EuroLeague, EuroCup or league. The goal is the same. We always have this goal.''
''Last year, the budgets were higher. Basketball players and our players were different. This year we have a new, younger team. David Blatt and our GM Mithat Demirel did a good job. They built this team. We keep getting better as long as we stay together and play together.''
Wilbekin who takes more responsibility from David Blatt, ''If we compare my improvement to last year, we can say that its positive. One of the most important reasons for this improvement is David Blatt. Besides that, i have learned so many things the guards that i play with; Jamon Gordon, Brad Wanamaker, Ender Arslan.. Working with them contributes to my improvement.''
In the previous days there were some news about Wilbekin got his Turkish passport. About those news Wilbekin, ''The news that i got my Turkish passport is untrue. I havent got it yet but i wanna play for Turkish National Team. I'm volunteer for it. Because, i love Turkey. I have been in here for 3 years. Darüşşafaka and Turkey are valuable for me.''
''I think Turkish National team is succesful. I do have a chance to talk about those stuff with Furkan Aldemir who is our captain. I know that National team will be better. Nobody got surprised if they win the last 2 games.''
When it is asked that if he wanna play in NBA, Wilbekin: ''My personal goals are not just about team or league. When i improve myself enough, i will be where i wanna be. I don't have a special dream or aim in NBA.''
24 year old player also talked about David Blatt who got both EuroCup and EuroLeague championship and play in NBA finals, ''David Blatt is a wonderful coach. He is one of the best coaches in the world and the best that i work with. Its a privilage working with him.''
