BSL: Fenerbahce celebrates 2016 title, 4-2 against Efes
The men of coach Obradovic win the final derby of Istanbul
Fenerbahce is the BSL champion with the 4-2 triumph in the final series against Efes, winning the title number 7 after the disappointing elimination in the 2015 post-season. The team of coach Obradovic, second place in regular season, closed the 2016 with two trophies (also the succes in the National Cup), after the burning defeat in the Euroleague Final Four against CSKA.
Anadolu Efes lost the second consecutive final, despite the first place after the RS. The team eliminated in the playoffs race Royal Gaziantep of Calloway and Darussafaka of Harangody, without defeats. Across the board Fener won the series against Usak (great year of the couple Harris-Birch) and the Eurocup champions of Galatasaray, reaching the final for the title. Out from the semifinals the 2015 champions of Karsiyaka and Banvit, despite the really good season of Moerman and Fortson.
The new champions won 3 of the first 4 games of the finals, Efes obtained the pass for game-6 but Fener was perfect at home, with the 91-70 victory for the championship.
Luigi Datome was the Finals MVP, with 20 points in the decisive game to close the season.
