Xavier Thames, Winston Shepard sign with Canterbury Rams
The former NBA G League players are headed to New Zealand
Guard Xavier Thames and forward Winston Shepard signed to play in New Zealand with the Canterbury Rams, the team announced.
Thames, a 2014 NBA second-round pick, started the current season in Israel with Bnei Herzliya. After being released by the Israeli team, he later joined Trikala B.C. in Greece, where he played ten games and had a career-high 30 points against Lavrio. This will be his third experience overseas this year.
Shepard spent the 2017-18 NBA G League season with the Santa Cruz Warriors, averaging 9.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 23.6 minutes per game.
