Last 8 spots for Qualifiers' 2nd Round at stake in Americas, Asia and Europe on Monday

The final eight teams moving on to the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers will be determined in the Americas, Asia and Europe on Monday.

On Sunday, six national sides - five from Africa and 1 from Europe - became the latest to secured their places in the next phase, bringing the number of known teams to 52 out of 60. 


Chad, Central African Republic (CAF), Cote d'Ivoire, Egypt and Rwanda punched their tickets in the Second Round of the African Qualifiers, joining Angola, Cameroon, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia. Africa is the first region to know all of its teams that will battle it out in the Second Round. The five best out of the 12 will qualify for the World Cup. 


Meanwhile, Croatia ensured their progression to the next round of the European Qualifiers.


So far during the third window, 29 teams have progressed to the Second Round. They are: Angola, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cameroon, Central African Republic (CAF), Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, Korea, Latvia, Mali, Montenegro, Morocco, Netherlands, Nigeria, Panama, Poland, Puerto Rico, Russia, Rwanda, Senegal, Slovenia, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and Virgin Islands.


Back in February, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Serbia, Spain, Venezuela, Uruguay and USA were the first 23 teams to clinch their places in the Second Round of the Qualifiers for China 2019.


Out of the 80 teams from across the globe taking part in the First Round of the Qualifiers, the top 60 advance to the Second Round, which will consist of three windows taking place in September and November 2018 and February 2019.


Here is how things stand:


Africa
Group A (merges with Group C in Second Round): 
Tunisia, Cameroon and Chad through to the Second Round; Guinea eliminated.
Group B (merges with Group D in Second Round):  Nigeria, Rwanda and Mali through to the Second Round; Uganda eliminated.
Group C (merges with Group A in Second Round): Angola, Egypt and Morocco through to the Second Round; Dem. Rep. of Congo eliminated.
Group D (merges with Group B in Second Round): Senegal, Central African Republic (CAF) and Cote d'Ivoire through to the Second Round; Mozambique eliminated.


Americas

Group A (merges with Group C in Second Round):  Uruguay, Argentina and Panama  through to the Second Round; Paraguay eliminated.
Group B (merges with Group D in Second Round):  Venezuela and Brazil through to the Second Round; Chile will go through if they beat Venezuela or if they lose to Venezuela and Brazil beat Colombia; Colombia will go through if they beat Brazil and Venezuela beat Chile.
Group C (merges with Group A in Second Round):  USA, Mexico and Puerto Rico through to the Second Round; Cuba eliminated.
Group D (merges with Group B in Second Round): Canada, Dominican Republic and Virgin Islands through to the Second Round; Bahamas eliminated.


Asia

Group A (merges with Group C in Second Round): New Zealand, Korea and China through to Second Round; Hong Kong eliminated.
Group B (merges with Group D in Second Round): Australia and Philippines through to Second Round; they will be joined by the winner of Monday's Chinese Taipei v Japan game.
Group C (merges with Group A in Second Round): Jordan, Lebanon and Syria through to Second Round; India eliminated.
Group D (merges with Group B in Second Round): Iran and Kazakhstan through to Second Round; they will be joined by the winner of Monday's Qatar v Iraq game.

Europe

Group A (merges with Group B in Second Round): Spain, Montenegro and Slovenia through to Second Round; Belarus eliminated.
Group B (merges with Group A in Second Round): Turkey, Latvia and Ukraine through to Second Round; Sweden eliminated.
Group C (merges with Group D in Second Round): Lithuania, Poland and Hungary through to Second Round; Kosovo eliminated.
Group D (merges with Group C in Second Round): Italy, Netherlands and Croatia through to Second Round; Romania eliminated.
Group E (merges with Group F in Second Round): France, Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina through to Second Round; Belgium eliminated.
Group F (merges with Group E in Second Round): Czech Republic are the only team through to Second Round. 
- Finland through to the Second Round if they beat Iceland or if Czech Republic beat Bulgaria.
- Iceland through to the Second Round if they beat Finland.
- Bulgaria through to the Second Round if they beat Czech Republic or if Finland beat Iceland.
Group G (merges with Group H in Second Round): Germany and Serbia through to Second Round; Georgia advance if they beat Austria or lose by 14 points or less; Austria advance if they beat Georgia by at least 15 points.
Group H (merges with Group G in Second Round):  Greece are the only team to have already booked their place in the Second Round.
- If Estonia beat Greece, they are through to the Second Round; if they lose to Greece and Israel beat Great Britain, Estonia advance.
- If Israel beat Great Britain, they are through to the Second Round and Estonia will join them.
- In the case of Estonia beating Greece, Great Britain must win against Israel by 7 points to get through to the Second Round. 
- In the case of Greece beating Estonia, Great Britain will get through to the Second Round if they beat Israel, thereby eliminating Estonia and seeing Israel join them; if Great Britain beat Israel by at least 22 points, then Israel will be eliminated and Estonia will progress.


The 31 best teams will join hosts China at the first-ever 32-team FIBA Basketball World Cup, taking place from August 31-September 15, 2019.
