Gravelines executive director: It was a mistake for BCM to sign an MVP having a young coach
Herve Beddeleem talks about DJ Cooper who has played only four games with the French team
The executive director of BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque, Herve Beddeleem, spoke with Buzzer (via Basket Europe) about DJ Cooper’s departure. The MVP of the 2016-2017 was signed by Gravelines during the summer but his experience with the team lasted a few games (4 games in which he averaged 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists).
“I am delighted that he is gone because in four games he did not help us to win one. In Boulazac he made us lose the game. I don’t want to speak against him because he’s gone” Beddeleem said. “Coach Julien Mate is in his first year in Pro A. I will be frank with you, it was a mistake for us to sign an MVP with a young coach. I think that an experienced coach would have had trouble in managing him, even more with a young coach. Mea culpa. We make mistakes in life and we made good choices” Beddeleem added.
