Chalon coach Choulet on Adam Smith: I was told Bayern wanted him and he had played at point

Elan Chalon won the Pro A title last June but started the season with 5 losses in the first 5 games of the year.

Coach Jean-Denys Choulet spoke with JSL about Adam Smith’s arrival. The former player of Roseto Sharks of Italian Serie A2 is averaging 14.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game and was signed to play at point.

“Errors can happen in building the team. But not being able to correct them, it is crazy. (Without the playoffs), what would have changed is that I would have gone to watch Smith in Italy and I certainly would not have signed him. But when you are fighting for a championship and for the title, and you are told that Bayern Munich is one of the teams pursuing him and the agents are telling you that he has already played at point guard position…What you have to do?” Choulet told JSL (via Basketactu).
