ProA: ASVEL wins game-5 in Strasbourg and completes the comeback for the title
Lyon-Villeurbanne closes 3-2 the championship series, Strasbourg loses another final
ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne won the 2016 ProA title beating 3-2 in the finals Strasbourg, back on top in France after the last succes in 2009 season. For the team of Tony Parker this is the ProA title number 18, across IG Strasbourg lost the fourth consecutive final!
The champions closed at fifth place the regular season, and won in the playoffs the challenges against Chalon of the MVP Devin Booker and Monaco (3-1 vs the best team of the RS with 27-7 record). Strasbourg, after the 25-9 record and the second RS place, won against Pau-Lacq-Orthez of the top scorer Michael Thompson (17.9ppg) and Le Mans, without defeats during the first two rounds of the post-season. Out from the best-eight the two-times champions of Limoges, despite the good year of Nobel Boungou-Colo. Immediately defeated in the playoffs race Nanterre of Mouhammadou Jaiteh.
Strasbourg started really good the finals with two internal victories, but lost the two games away from home and the decisive game-5 match under the eyes of own fans in Rhénus Sport. ASVEL completed an amazing comeback from 0-2, closing the season with the 80-77 succes for the championship.
Casper Ware was the Finals MVP for ASVEL with 27 points in game-5. Really important also the help from Kahudi, Lighty, Jean-Charles and the experience of Andersen. Not was enough for Strasbourg the losing effort of Collins and Beaubois, and the performances by Weems and Fofana in the final series.
Incroyable victoire de l'@ASVEL_Basket !! Trop fier de cette équipe #GoASVELGo #famille
