Mickael Gelabale spoke with Sportando about the bronze medal won at FIBA World Cup, his future and his past season with Khimki Moscow.

The French forward was one of the key players for France National during Spain 2014. Gelabale ended the FIBA World Cup averaging 6.1 points and 2.3 rebounds and won his second medal in less than 12 months with his national team (last season he won the gold in Slovenia).

Gelabale has also played in the NBA 145 regular season games with Thunder and Timberwolves averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest.

The forward is still free agent after his season with Khimi Moscow and after being very close to penning a deal with Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray.

We can start from FIBA World Cup in Spain. You won the bronze medal with France National Team. Could you tell us your emotions and how you reached this important result?

I am very happy for the medal. We did a great job and we were able to get the medal even without Tony Parker in the roster. The spirit of the team was great and we were all on the same page since the day one of training camp.

Next season will be even more important for you and France. Eurobasket 2015 will be played in Montpellier and Lille will host the final round of the competition. Could you already confirm that you’ll play for France NT next summer?

Eurobasket 2015 is going be a great moment for our generation. For players like Tony (Parker), Boris (Diaw) and me. It will be a great experience. We look forward to play in front of our fans. Everybody is going to come and play for France National Team next summer.

Last season you spent the season with Khimki Moscow. The Russian team had a great run during the VTB League regular season and in Eurocup but you failed to win both competitions. What happened?

We had a great team. We made a great run during the season. I don’t really know what happened late in the season both in Eurocup and VTB League. But sometimes happens that after a great season you are not able reach your goals in the playoffs.

During the summer your name was linked to Galatasaray. Were the rumors true?

Yes, the rumors were true. I was talking with them but I don’t know what happened last minutes when we were negotiating the deal.

Despite a great season in Russia and a great summer with your national team you are still free agent. You are looking for a contract just in a high-level Euroleague team or you are also interested in going back to the NBA?

I am looking for both. I feel I can play in one of the Euroleague top teams and also have a chance back in the NBA.

I am just waiting for a good team and good offer to come.
