Mike Tuck signs 2-year contract extension with Sharks Sheffield
He will remain with the British club
The DBL Sharks Sheffield are happy to confirm the return of England and club Captain Mike Tuck on a two-year deal that will see him retained for the remainder of his playing career.
The 6ft 7in forward, who was born in Toronto to his British mother Susan, has served with Sharks since 2009, whilst also acting as the clubs Marketing Officer during last season.
The deal will see the Sheffield powerhouse continue his contribution on court and consolidate his off-court career as Marketing and Social Media Manager.
“Mike is pretty much part of the furniture now, but that is because he has continued to provide the club with maximum effort to achieve success,” said GM Sarah Backovic.
“His leadership and personality has been the back bone of the Sharks since his captaincy and we look forward to watching him play again, entertaining the Sharks supporters for seasons to come.”
Tuck, who Captained England in the summer for the Commonwealth Games campaign, is delighted to seal the deal for the 10th season in a row, establishing his home firmly for the Yorkshire side.
“One again, I am excited to be part of the plans going forward, we had a mixed season last year, but I think we learned a lot and we know what we want to adjust,” said Tuck.
“Combining my on court and off court roles works well for my post playing experience and we have a lot of exciting plans there too, so can’t wait!”
Sharks head Coach Atiba Lyons is currently in the USA on scouting duty as he begins the search to complete his roster.
He said: “I am thrilled to have Mike with me for the foreseeable future, he is a hard working and reliable team member, a good guy to have on your side with plenty to contribute as we move forward.”
