LKL president: Lietuvos Rytas and Zalgiris Kaunas will never leave our league

LKL president Remigijus Milasius said that despite suspension made by Lithuanian Basketball Federation, Lietuvos Ryas and Zalgiris Kaunas will never be excluded from the national league. So far just Rytas has been suspended from next season LKL if they will play in Eurocup.

“The decision is not just about Lithuania but all Europe. We agreed with Sabonis and Spoku to help them to exit out of the the troubles but it is possible we’ll make a separate organization (where FIBA won’t have any power)” Milasius told Basketnews. “But the process is still long. We will see in the fall the end of this war. There is still time. I am in touch with Zalgiris and Ryas every minute. The two clubs will never leave LKL. They are teams for which it is worth to go to the game” Milasius added and criticized Champions League. “They promised a lot of money which they do not even have. All the clubs want to play where the money are and FIBA don’t have them. They don’t even have a sponsor, while Euroleague have sponsors that bring money”.
