Olympiacos extends Georgios Printezis

L'ala firma per tre anni

Greece

The author of arguably the most important basket in Olympiacos history will remain with his hometown club with the news that the Reds have signed versatile forward Georgios Printezis to a new deal through the end of the 2014-15 season. Printezis (2.02 meters, 27 years old) led Olympiacos to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague title in May by hitting the game-winning shot with just 0.7 left in the final against CSKA, which the Reds won 61-62 in epic fashion. Printezis’s baseline floater capped a 19-point comeback and gave Olympiacos its second Euroleague crown. For the season he averaged 10.6 points on 60.2% two-point shooting and 86.4% free throws to go with 4.1 rebounds in 21 Euroleague games. Printezis also helped Olympiacos win the Greek League title last season. Printezis grew up with Asteras Agiou Dimirtriou and was signed by Olympiacos in 2000. He played there for six seasons – interrupted only by a season on loan to Olympia Larissa – before going abroad to play for Unicaja in Spain. However after a season and a half, Printezis returned home and rejoined Olympiacos in March 2011. Printezis is also a regular for the Greek national team and helped it win the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2009.
