Olympiacos adds Pero Antic

Olympiacos Piraeus signed veteran big man Pero Antic, who was one of the stars of the recently completed EuroBasket 2011. Antic (2.10 meters, 29 years old) averaged 11.6 points and was third in the competition with 8.5 rebounds per game in helping F.Y.R. of Macedonia reach the semifinals against all odds. By joining the Reds, Antic returns to the Euroleague after a six-season hiatus. He last played the Euroleague for another Greek club, AEK Athens, during the 2004-05 season during which he averaged 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15 games off the bench. Last season Antic played for Spartak St. Petersburg, whom he helped to the FIBA EuroChallenge semifinals. He averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in that competition, as well as 9.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in the Russian League. Antic began his career with Rabotnicki Skopje in his native Macedonia before spending four years in Greece with AEK. He has since played for Crvena Zvezda in Serbia, Lokomotiv Kuban in Russia and Lukoil Academic Sofia in Bulgaria. Among his career accomplishments are two Bulgarian League titles with Lukoil and a Serbian Cup with Crvena Zvezda.
