Bourousis said NO to the NBA because he wanted a 2-year contract but he only got one-season offers
Bourousis instead signed in Greece with Panathinaikos
Ioannis Bourousis signed with Panathinaikos this summer after his dominant season in Spain with Baskonia.
The Greek big man was close to signing in the NBA but he passed on the opportunity to sign in the US to remain in Europe.
Bourousis explained to Eurohoops why he said NO to the NBA.
Per Eurohoops, “I was about to go to the NBA, before signing with Panathinaikos. It was my main goal and if I found exactly what I was looking for. But I didn’t because I wanted to sign a two-year deal. All I got were one-year offers. I couldn’t say yes to them and have to take my family in the USA just for some months.
When my contract with Panathinaikos is over… well… perhaps then I can say yes to a one-year proposal.”
