Argiris Pedoulakis: 'Chris Singleton will help us in defense'
New Panathinaikos head coach made a long interview with SDNA
In a long interview with SDNA.gr, Panathinaikos head-coach Argiris Pedoulakis talked about the upcoming season and the new players of the team. The coach spoke also about the rivalry with Olympiakos and the finals of the last season. Here's some extract from the interview:
"Chris Singleton will help us in defense, along with the guards of our squad. He can break the defense of the opponents, he has shooting ability, modern style, fast hands and legs. So, he can perform to our style of basketball and create problems for our opponents. Mike James is an explosive, fast guard, he can perform in changes and one versus one situations. Along with Nick Calathes, they can control the tempo of game. They have to carry our team, every day in trainings and games. He has learnt to play a fast basketball, he has speed and athletic ability. He can perform in one versus one situations and help us during the decisive moments of a match, this was the main reason of his signing. K.C. Rivers is experienced and strong defender, he will help Vasilis Charalampopoulos, play tough in trainings. He has also a nice character and will help us during the decisive moments of the match, because Vasilis will have an important role from now on. We should be patient with him at the beginning. We wanted a player who will not be competitive against him, but tough, especially while we are working before games. Rivers is a strong defender, so he will help Vasilis, who is an extremely soft guy, in trainings. Rivers will help him become a real man in basketball terms."
About last year finals against Olympiakos: "Panathinaikos were ready during last season's finals against Olympiakos. I do not want to comment on the results, if we had another fast center, with the ability to be defensive against Spanoulis and low post, we would had won all the matches easily. I am speaking only about tactics, no refereeing, no turnovers, nothing else. We understand what we could had done"
