Olympiacos hands Simmons three-year deal

The big man moves to Greece

Greece

Two-time defending Euroleague champion Olympiacos Piraeus continued rebuilding a championship-worthy roster by signing big man Cedric Simmons to a three-year deal. Simmons (2.08 meters, 27 years old) joins Aaron Petway as the second new addition to the Reds’ frontline in the past week. Simmons has never before played in the Euroleague, but has competed in several of the top domestic leagues on the continent. He arrives from Enel Brindisi of the Italian League, where he averaged 9.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game last season. Simmons has also played for Estudiantes in Spain, Kavala in Greece, Dongguan Leopards in China as well as New Orleans, Cleveland, Chicago and Sacramento in the NBA.

"I always wanted to play in the Euroleague, I wanted to take this step," Simmons said in a statement released by the club. "This is what’s best for my career and for my family. I'm leaving a good team to go to the best team  Europe. What better could happen? I play tough defense. I set picks and gather rebounds. Mainly I make life easier for my teammates. I do the dirty work."
