The Croatian Basketball Federation (HKS) is expected to formally offer the role of senior national team head coach to Velimir Perasovic in the next few days, after receiving an expert recommendation.
The technical committee of the HKS decided unanimously this week that the former Valencia Basket boss is the ideal candidate to succeed outgoing Croatia head coach Jasmin Repesa.
The 50-year-old Perasovic would be assigned the important task of leading Croatia into EuroBasket 2015 Group C, which they host in Zagreb and, according to a report in the Vecernji List daily, he has also received the blessing of Repesa himself.
"We all know that Perasovic is a very good coach, is a great worker and I wish him all the best from the heart. It would be good for Croatia to agree to a long-term cooperation with him," the current Cedevita Zagreb boss reportedly told the committee of experts.
Repesa's second spell at the helm of the Croatia commenced in 2012 and the experienced tactician led the national team to the EuroBasket semi-finals in 2013, for the first time in 18 years.
