Argentinian Montecchia retires
Il 37enne giocatore decide di appendere le scarpe al chiodo
Alejandro Montecchia decided to call it quits. At 37, the guard played his last game on Friday against Atenas in the LNB's quarter-final playoffs, scoring 12 points, as Regatas Corrientes lost the series 3-2. With no more games to play this season with his team, Montecchia made a decision he already had talked about last year.
Over his career, the 1.80m tall player was an integral part of the team that won a gold and a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics and 2002 World Championship, respectively, playing for the national team from 1997 to 2004. At club level, Montecchia won an Argentinian championship with Olimpia in 1996, two South American Leagues and one Eurocup with Pamesa Valencia from Spain in 2003.
His life could keep linked to basketball, as there's the possibility of a coaching career.
