After the announcement of the roster of the McDonald's All American, an event which brings together the best players in American high school, we offer some thoughts on the two teams, starting with the West team:
The first thing that strikes you looking at the roster is that there are four athletes who will go to Kentucky, from the strong twins Harrison (play both guard positions and just under two meters and with great athleticism, Andrew loves the construction of the game and the defense despite being able to score in almost every way, while Aaron is more of a two guard with a good shot from outside and excellent instincts) to the Californian Marcus Lee (vertical athlete blossomed last summer during the summer AAU leagues, good rebounder and shot blocker , good near the rim in dynamic situations) and the wing from the small Michigan, Andrew Young (possibly the best overall player in AAU leagues throughout the summer, incredibly complete scorer, excellent in winning hoards of free throws , soft jumper from all over the floor).
- The most spectacular is definitely Aaron Gordon, explosive athlete compared to Blake Griffin who will be one of the most followed also because he has not yet chosen a college (the finalists are Arizona, Kentucky, Washington and Oregon, the theory would agree to go Washington where he should be the undisputed leader from day one, since the other contenders have several options in his role.), only second to - maybe ... - Wiggins as 'You Tube Sensation' ...
- One of the themes of the game will be the 'duel' between Jabari Parker (West) and Andrew Wiggins, with the Canadian phenomenon which last year surpassed the wing of Chicago in the various rankings. Parker will have a great opportunity to prove that he is completely healed from various physical problems that have limited him from July onwards. Jabari between the two is probably the most technical - what a step back from the distance... - but in this type of games almost always prevail athleticism ... He will brings to Duke his ‘ready for college’ game and a versatility that will allow him to play effectively at least three roles ...
- So much talent in the position of guard / forward: from Jabari Bird (great shooter from mid-range, versatile and athletic, going to California where it will be one of the leaders from the start) to Isaac Hamilton (brother of Jordan Hamilton Nuggets and Daniel, smaller than a year, and perhaps the most talented of the three. Isaac surprise when he chose to play for Tim Floyd at UTEP, a university outside the Big Six, where he will take great responsibility with other two highly touted freshman, Vincent Hunter and Anthony January) and Matt Jones (great shooter from three, teammate of Julius Randle in AAU summer leagues, will be good from day one for Coach K at Duke).
- The backup point guard will be Nigel Williams-Goss from Findlay Prep, a winner and a gritty born leader, emerged during the current season also as a closer and scorer, will play in the Pac12 in Washington for coach Romar ( and maybe Aaron Gordon…).
- The two remaining are Bobby Portis (strongly emerged last season, soft hands for shooting and passing, much improved physically and athletically after some weight problems) that will go to Arkansas to play for Mike Anderson, and power forward Jarell Martin (powerful athlete ,can dominate under the boards, improved as shooter, though often he takes too many jumpers because he wants to prove to the various scout that he can also play small forward, fault common to many players in the middle between the two forward roles ...), which will go to LSU, university of his home state, where the new head coach Johnny Jones next year will have a formidable trio of freshman with Martin, versatile guard/forward Tim Quarterman and athletics comboforward Jordan Mickey.
