Jared Swopshire’s season is likely over.
``He’s probably going to be done for the year,” Louisville coach Rick Pitino told FOXSports.com on Wednesday morning. ``He’s going to get a second opinion, but it looks like he’s going to need surgery.”
The 6-foot-8 Swopshire, who averaged 7.5 points and 6.1 rebounds last season and started 20 games as a sophomore, has battled a serious groin injury that Pitino said hasn’t gotten any better.
``I’m worried about this long term,” Pitino said. ``There’s been no improvement and it could be career-threatening.”
Pitino said that Swopshire is set to see a specialist in Philadelphia.
This would be a blow to a Louisville team that has gotten off to an 11-1 start and will host Kentucky on Friday.
