Memphis will hire Penny Hardaway as head coach to replace Tubby Smith, as reported by several media in US.
Per Zagsblog, Hardaway, 46, is now the head coach at Memphis East High School and the Team Penny Nike EYBL team. He was the No. 3 pick in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.
Hardaway will become the latest former NBA All-Star to coach his alma mater, following Chris Mullin at St. John’s and Patrick Ewing at Georgetown, among others.
