Ole Miss added to its talented backcourt Monday with the signing of top European prospect Illya Tyrtyshnik head coach Andy Kennedy announced. Tyrtyshnik will join the Rebels for the 2017-18 season.
A native of Kiev, Ukraine, Tyrtyshnik played this season at GBA Prague, a prep school in the Czech Republic coached by former Butler Basketball standout Julian Betko. He is rated one of the top guard prospects in the 2017 class by Eurohopes Scouting Service.

“We are excited to have Illya join our program,” Kennedy said. “He is a big, versatile lead guard, who will help our backcourt in a variety of ways. The experience he has garnered in numerous international competitions should aid him in his transition to SEC Basketball.”

A three-year starter at guard for Memphis, the 6-5 Crawford finished second on the Tigers in scoring last season at 12.8 points per game and led the team with 42 3-pointers, while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor.
