NCAA UNDERGROUND 2017 - Five players to follow....
....ready for your European team
PG – KHALID HART (MARIST) – Don’t judge him by looking at the bad shooting night just closed his season. This guy here is not a pure point guard but has the approach to the game of a true warrior. Physically tough, has got ball handling and change of speed to beat his man off the dribble (particularly on his right hand) and go strong to the rim. He knows how to absorb the contact and score with the foul. Can hit from behind three point arc easily… we’ll see him more and more off the ball in Europe.
SG – JONATHAN WILLIAMS (TOLEDO) – Another potential star for European Leagues coming from the MAC. Among all the 20ppg players of the mid-majors this is probably the best one on the defensive end. Very good in playing off the ball, using the screens and prepare for the catch and shoot. In Toledo offense, with skilled big man passing the ball (Nathan Boothe last year, Steve Taylor this year) he is at his best and kept doing great things with consistency.
SF – CALEB WHITE (EAST CAROLINA) – Probaly not the toughest player in college basketball but has got intriguing size mixed with a soft touch from long distance. Knows how to play the game both ends of the court and he plays with court awareness and high basketball IQ. Four consecutive years in double digit for the Pirates is not a joke and he just scored 28 against UConn in one of those nights where he looks like an NBA role player…
SF – JALEN MOORE (UTAH STATE) – Not as “Undergound” as the others, but this guy is someone whose talent will make fans crazy all over Europe in case the NBA doesn’t pay enough attention. He can play three spots (from 2 thru 4), has got soft touch from any distance and high level athletic ability. Extremely versatile, can play low post to use his size or hit from the distance with same effectiveness. A beauty of the game in open court… We see him in a Euroleague highlights soon if not called with a second round pick in June.
C – TIM KEMPTON JR. (LEHIGH) – His father was a 90’s legend in Europe. Tim Jr. has got rare skills and soft hands for his size to produce down low. Not crazy vertical but knows how to grab rebounds and position himself correctly on defense. Moves well on his feet and he is so skilled he doens’t feel pressure when double teamed. Scoring twenty points has never been an issue for him… but shooting 40% from threes like he did this season is absolutely amazing.
