WHERE HE PLAYS – 6-feet tall Point G
PHYSICAL SKILLS – very quick, great explosiveness on his first step; quite strong body; overall size is his weak point.
WHERE HE RECEIVES THE BALL AND HOW HE FINISHES – Floor general who can score the ball as well as lead his team by creating shots for everybody on the court. Tillotson understands how to play, reads situations on the floor very well, he is a great decision maker. In transition he will attack and push the ball every time – he has great speed with the ball, he is under control and sees the floor well. In the half court, Tillotson likes to use a lot of ball screens – he reads pick very well; has really good pull up and will shoot the ball off the dribble if defender is late for a second. He has good handles, controls the ball, and always looks to penetrate and create opportunities for others off the dribble – this is what he does well. As mentioned, he has good court awareness and will involve his teammates. Scoring wise, he will shoot the ball from behind the arc either off the dribble or from catch and shoot situations every time he has an opportunity – he is good shooter, and could be very dangerous pull up shooter. Moreover even though his size could cause him problems around the rim, he is surprisingly good finisher when he gets in the paint – Tillotson has strong body and good body control and use it to his advantage.
NEGATIVES: his main weakness is his size especially for playing at the NBA level; finishing around the rim, at the next level versus NBA athletes could be a problem
WHERE AND HOW HE DEFEND – He’s got decent speed to stay always in front of his man, however defensive matchup issues could bring him down low versus taller opponents. Can still improve on lateral movement, however he has amazing quick hands that helps him on this end of the floor with steals and deflections.
HOW HE PLAYS PICK AND ROLL – offense & defense – This is his strength – most of half court offense involves ball screens. He reads pick very well – will punish defense if they are late by pulling up, while he is good at penetrating when coming off the pick and create for others – he sees the entire floor when coming off the pick and will share the ball in the right way with the right timing. Can’t swtich ball screens with him because of his size.
RIGHT FIT FOR HIM – fast pace teams with frequent use of ball screens.
