NCAA UNDERGROUND: take note for your team in Europe...Bryce Douvier - TEXAS A&M CC
Born in Austria, Military Academy in his past, big time versatility in his game.
WHERE HE PLAYS – 6-7, 230 pounds of versatile 4-man, who can play the 3 or the 5 in different lineups.
PHYSICAL SKILLS – Good physical strength, decent speed, has got quick feet especially in low post for somebody his size. Interesting explosiveness when receiving the ball on the move.
WHERE HE RECEIVES THE BALL AND HOW HE FINISHES – Douvier is typical 4 man, who will be great fit for European basketball – shoots well from behind the arc and can score from the low post. Douvier likes to spread the floor and knock down 3s from catch and shoot situations (either of penetrate and kick or pick and pop situations). He has good perimeter shot, shots 38% from the3pt line in his senior year. He likes to pop out and knock down shots after setting the pick. Even though it is not his strength, he showed that he can put the ball on the floor, and attack the basket off of 1-2 dribbles after a shot fake (has to improve in this segment in order to become even better offensive player). He has soft touch around the rim and prefers to shoot fade away shots rather than going strong to the basket and finish through contact. In the low post, Douvier is capable scorer – he has decent low post moves thanks to his quick feet and soft hands. Douvier likes to play in transition. Moreover he is a very good offensive rebounder and will go to the glass when he has a chance.
NEGATIVES: has to improve his game off the dribble, get better at finishing around the rim through contact against bigger opponent.
WHERE AND HOW HE DEFEND – reliable defender who wants to play defense and shows always good effort and great mentality. Even though he could still improve his lateral movement he already can keep forwards in front of him when defending out on perimeter. In the low post, he tries to go around offensive player before he catches the ball, has great footwork and good strength. Solid defensive rebounder.
HOW HE PLAYS PICK AND ROLL – offense & defense – one of his strengths is pick and pop game – he is dangerous in these situations if defense doesn’t switch on him, since he looks to pop out most of the time and knock down perimeter shot since He has quick release and ability to set his feet perfectly on the catch. Defensively he can both “show and recover” or switch ball screens – he has shown capabilities of keeping perimeter players in front of him.
RIGHT FIT FOR HIM – he will give you 15 points on fast pace teams with a lot of ball screens, team that runs spread offense, and also where he could be used in the low post situations. Brings winning mentality and defense every night.
