NCAA UNDERGROUND: take note for your team in Europe... Jarelle Reischel - EASTERN KENTUCKY

German. With offensive versatility. Consistent in getting strong to the rim…

NCAA

WHERE HE PLAYS – 6-7 wing player, 3-man. Can be used as a PF in some situations, but not too often..

PHYSICAL SKILLS – good athlete, long, good speed and decent explosiveness on his drives, decent average leaping ability. Average body frame.

WHERE HE RECEIVES THE BALL AND HOW HE FINISHES –Reischel is aggressive wing player who improved a lot since his sophomore and junior year. This season he is much more aggressive on the offensive end and he showed some scoring ability. Reischel prefers to score the ball off the dribble from iso/1 on 1 situations. He has decent handles (not overly creative), but uses his speed and long steps in order to get by players. His length and explosiveness helps him a lot in order to get in the paint. He can create his own shot and feels comfortable in taking defender off the dribble. Reischel likes to play in the open court and attack in transition – uses his speed really well, can push the ball up the court, and runs wide looking to get scoring opportunity. Moreover he is good perimeter shooter (catch and shoot shots), takes good shots and is more than capable knocking them down from behind the arc. Most of his perimeter shots are spot up shots. He is capable of shooting the ball of the dribble from the mid range, but has to work on this segment. Moreover, Reischel is good at creating contact and getting to the foul line, which reflects his aggressiveness of the dribble.
NEGATIVES: can get out of control on his drives; lacks pure leaping ability in traffic; could improve his jumper off the dribble, and could be more aggressive on the offensive glass;

WHERE AND HOW HE DEFEND – Eastern Kentucky plays mostly zone – Reischel has good athleticism and speed in order to be a decent perimeter defender, can guard positions 2 and 3; has to improve his lateral movement, has decent aggressiveness on the ball, and uses his length [gambles and reaches] in order to get steals. As mentioned, has to work on sliding his feet laterally in order to keep players in front but has potential to be a decent defender. Very good on the defensive glass

HOW HE PLAYS PICK AND ROLL – offense & defense – capable ball handler in ball screen situations, this is not his strength but can use ball screens from time to time. Usually coming off ball screens he would look to score by driving the ball. If he is in ball screen situations he will be aggressive coming out of it, but his strength is more of beating his player or getting fouled from iso situations.

RIGHT FIT FOR HIM – faster pace team that wants to run in transition and with a lot of space for 1 on 1 game in the half court.
