Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono named Final Four Most Outstanding Player
Arcidiacono dropped the assist for Jenkins' buzzer beater
Villanova point guard Ryan Arcidiacono has been named NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player.
Per ESPN, The unselfish point guard was dribbling toward the basket with clock winding down and defenders closing in when he heard Kris Jenkins calling for the ball from behind. Arcidiacono passed to his open teammate, whose 3-pointer beat the buzzer for a 77-74 victory over North Carolina on Monday night.
"I wanted to be aggressive. If I could get a shot, I was going to shoot it. But I heard someone screaming in the back of my head. It was Kris," Arcidiacono said. "I just gave it to him and he let it go with confidence."
The Pennsylvania kid born nine years after Villanova's only other title in 1985 scored 16 points against North Carolina after scoring 15 in their record semifinal victory over Oklahoma.
