NCAA UNDERGROUND: take note for your team in Europe... Brett Bisping - SIENA COLLEGE

Solid big man with shooting touch and rebounding skills....

NCAA

WHERE HE PLAYS – Power Forward. He can play the 5 in some European leagues.

PHYSICAL SKILLS – Good physical strength (especially upper body); average speed; below average explosiveness and leaping ability, and lateral movement.

WHERE HE RECEIVES THE BALL AND HOW HE FINISHES – Bisping is forward who can be a threat on perimeter as well as from the low post. He has high basketball IQ and understands the game. He knows what his strength are and plays to their full potential. Bisping has good perimeter shoot (catch and shoot/spot up situations) and will shoot the ball every time if he is open. Moreover, he can also put the ball on the floor and get to the basket (stronger to his left), where he has shown ability to finish around the rim. Even though Bisping’s drives are mainly straight line drives, he is good at attacking off the dribble. One of his main strengths is his ability to move without the ball and get the ball in the area where he can score - he understands spacing on the floor really well. Bisping is especially good in the area around high post (especially vs zone defense) since he is a danger on the catch, because of his jumper, but also can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim off of 1 or 2 dribbles. He is good decision maker from high post. In the low post, Bisping has average low post game with his back to the basket – uses his strength to back up his defender and can be usable, however he can improve in this segment of the game.
NEGATIVES: finishing through contact vs more longer and athletic defenders (especially for playing at the next level); his athleticism is not on the higher end. Moreover his ability to create and finish shots from 1 on 1 situations vs better athletes at the next level is questionable.

WHERE AND HOW HE DEFEND – Bisping defends usually opposing 4 man. He is not overly quick defender and has to work on his lateral movement and footwork. He plays hard defensively and doesn’t give up, however he has problems when has to defend faster PF on perimeter. Decent low post defense where he uses his strength. He is good defensive rebounder. He is physical player who plays hard and doesn’t back off from contact.

HOW HE PLAYS PICK AND ROLL – offense & defense – in ball screen situations he pops most of the time, looking for perimeter jumper, or to drive the ball on the catch and get to the rim. Defensively in ball screens, he is usually in drop position. In some situations Bisping can also switch with guards, however containing faster players on perimeter is not his strength, and for this reason, drop defense in ball screens is better option.

RIGHT FIT FOR HIM – slower pace team with set offense; team with good spacing where he can create from perimeter positions and high post.
