NCAA UNDERGROUND: take note for your team in Europe... Michael Bryson - UCSB

Sportando Pro - west coast offensive threat with deep range and game above the rim

NCAA

WHERE HE PLAYS – SG – 2 – on both ends of the floor

PHYSICAL SKILLS – Very athletic guard (great leaping ability), decent speed, good explosiveness. Good size and strength.

WHERE HE RECEIVES THE BALL AND HOW HE FINISHES – Bryson is great SG, he is a scorer with quick release and deep range. Has the ability to set his feet quickly and shoot the ball from catch and shoot situations or coming off screens. His team uses him a lot in staggers, Bryson reads the situations on the floor well, when coming off screens, and understands when/how to involve other teammates if defense shrinks on him. Bryson is good passer and unselfish player who will find an open man. In general he looks to score the ball using his athleticism and great shooting ability in order to attack defense. Because of his strength, Bryson can post up defenders and has decent low post technique (usually shooting over the left shoulder). Uses his athleticism to go hard on offensive glass and get tip dunks and putbacks. His main weapon is his jumper (from any situation on the floor), and his ability to read the defense when coming off screens and make the right move. Negatives – he is not overly creative off the dribble and has to be more versatile offensive player who can also attack the basket off the dribble and create shot for himself by getting to the basket.

WHERE AND HOW HE DEFEND – can improve in this segment. Has good athletic ability, however seems like he is not interested too much in playing defense, gives up on plays (ball screens); overall has to be much more aggressive and physical on-ball defender; has good speed but doesn’t use it to his full potential defensively

HOW HE PLAYS PICK AND ROLL – offense & defense – doesn’t use too many ball screens, however in some pick&roll situations he doesn’t try to get out of his comfort zone. He has to improve in this segment and be more aggressive with the ball by attacking the basket when coming off the ball screen, in order to be really good (versatile) offensive player.

RIGHT FIT FOR HIM – team that runs set offense. A Team that will run him off staggers and create some sets for him.
