St. John’s offered a contract to Chris Mullin to become the new head coach of the school, according to CBS Sports. Mullin is expected to accept the proposal.
Per CBS Sports, Barring a last-minute snag in the negotiations, the administration is hoping to have a press conference Tuesday or Wednesday.
Mullin has spent the past few seasons as an adviser in the Sacramento Kings' front office and was also formerly the general manager of the Golden State Warriors.
Mullin, a Brooklyn native, was a first-team All-American at St. John's and led the Red Storm to the 1985 Final Four.
Mullin was the seventh overall pick in the 1985 NBA draft and was selected by Golden State and was also a member of the 1992 US Olympic Dream Team.
