U.S. President Barack Obama spokea bout his proposal to raise the federal minimum wage at the University of Michigan on April 2. Obama said every American deserves a fair working wage.
Per MLive, During of portion of Obama's speech where he discussed the capping of student loans for college students, he took at look at Stauskas -- the Big Ten Player of the Year -- and reminded everyone in attendance that he might not need to worry about any type of loan ever again.
"I mean, I know Stauskas has got the contract coming up," Obama said with a smile. "So he’ll -- he doesn't have to worry about these things."
Obama's comments were met with a loud groan from the audience in general, as Michigan fans continue to wait on Stauskas' upcoming decision about whether he'll return to school for his junior season or enter the 2014 NBA draft.
Hearing the grown, Obama quickly amended his statement.
"I’m saying later -- I’m not telling him to leave," said Obama, who drew a much more jovial response this time. "I wasn’t editorializing on that."
Following Michigan's loss to Kentucky in the Elite Eight on Sunday, Stauskas said he wasn't quite sure what he was going to do just yet.
"I'm not really sure," Stauskas said at the time. "I don't know where I'm at right now with the decision. In the next couple of days I'll start figuring out what I've got to do."
