Kentucky tops Mississipi State 85-63
James Young leads the Wildcats with 26 points
Kentucky, returned from 11 days of hard training - on which coach Calipari has often briefed the fans via social networks -, needs the first twenty minutes to shake off the dust and then dominate the unfortunate Mississippi State. The Wildcats shot 65% from the field in the second half and allowed just 23 points at the Bulldogs. Freshman swingman James Young had 26 points (8 of 18 FG, 7 of 9 FT), 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals, while the talented but inconsistent sophomore Alex Poythress helped with 12 points (5 of 6 by two), 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks.
For the Bulldogs the top scorer was sophomore guard Craig Sword with 19 points plus 3 steals.
