Connecticut defeats Florida 65-64
The Huskies won with a Shabazz Napier's buzzer-beater
Connecticut manages to overcome Florida 65-64 with a basket at the buzzer of the senior point guard Shabazz Napier (26 points with 2 assists and 3 recoveries, 4 of 7 from two, 5 of 8 from three), one of the best NCAA players in this first part of the season. As expected the Huskies suffer under the boards (34-26 total rebounds for the Gators) but manage to prevail thanks to the greater accuracy from long range (11 of 25 for three, 3 of 9 for the Gators). Good performance also for junior forward DeAndre Daniels, who added 14 points (6 of 10 from the field) with 7 rebounds, 2 steals and a crucial tap-out in the final seconds. Connecticut, No.12 in the rankings AP, is still unbeaten after 8 games played.
For the Gators, still struggling due to the absence of some players, solid performance of two seniors, all-around forward Casey Prather (19 with 7 rebounds, 8 of 13 from the field) and the powerful center Patric Young (17 points and 7 rebounds, 6 of 10 from the field, 5 of 7 from the foul line)
