Shabazz Napier returns to UConn for his senior year
Napier won't go to the NBA Draft
Shabazz Napier is returning to UConn for his senior season. The decision was announced by UConn after a brief noontime meeting between Napier and coach Kevin Ollie
"After many days of figuring out what decision was best for my family and me, I finally came to a conclusion," Napier said, in a statement released though the school. "… I have decided to remain at UConn for my senior year. I am very much looking forward to getting closer to receiving my college degree, as well as becoming a stronger leader for my teammates on and off the court. We think we have a great team for next season and we're excited about playing for a conference championship and in the NCAA Tournament."
Napier, UConn's leading scorer last season with 17.1 points per game, had been weighing the option of entering the NBA Draft, though the consensus of opinion was that he would not be a first round draft pick, or possibly even a second round pick. The deadline for entering the draft is Sunday, so Napier, a 6-foot-1 guard, kept his options open until nearly the very end.
