Dirk Nowitzki praised once again Luka Doncic during the Dallas Mavericks media day. Doncic will play his rookie season in the NBA after winning everything in Europe with Real Madrid and his national team despite being only 19.
Per Dallas Morning News, What a remarkable trail Nowitzki has blazed, initially in that heap of metal, for a generation of European NBA players that now includes 19-year-old Slovenian teammate Doncic. “For me it’s great just to share a locker room with him this year,” Doncic said. “We all know what he’s done for basketball.”
What greater teammate and role model could Doncic have than 40-year-old teammate Nowitzki? “His transition should be a lot smoother than mine,” Nowitzki said. “His English is better. He plays with a savviness that I never had. I might not still have it. The way he carries himself in scrimmages and brings the ball up and reads situations, he’s fantastic. His court vision is something I haven’t seen in a young guy like that in probably forever.”
