P.J. Hairston has decided to walk away from the game of basketball at the age of 25. In announcing his retirement, Hairston cited his health, and having nothing left to prove in the game of basketball.
Coming out of North Carolina, Hairston was selected by the Charlotte Hornets (via Miami) with the 26th pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He spent two seasons in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets and Memphis Grizzlies. He joined the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA G League but has never played since 2017.
