Stan Okoye to attend free-agent minicamp with Brooklyn Nets

After a breakout season in the Italian Serie A, an interesting offseason is coming up for Nigerian forward Stan Okoye as he will get the chance to showcase his talent in front of some NBA teams.

Okoye will be attending a free-agent minicamp with the Brooklyn Nets next week, his agent Chris Haynes-Smith told Sportando. He has three other workouts in place as well.

Coming out of VMI, Stan Okoye has turned from a solid role player into a team leader over his four-year experience in Italy.

He first joined Pallacanestro Varese in the 2014-15 season as a player who could bring a lot of energy coming off the bench. Then, he spent the following two seasons in the Italian second division, where he developed his game and became an offensive first option.

Okoye returned to Pallacanestro Varese in the Italian Serie A for the 2017-18 season and emerged as a key player for the team, averaging 15.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting a very good 41% from 3-point range on 5.9 attempts. He recorded seven double-doubles, including a 29-point, 15-rebound game against New Basket Brindisi.
