This news comes as no surprise, considering that Bower was a favorite of former head coach Stan Van Gundy. With Bower now out of the picture, assistant GM Pat Garrity is expected to receive a promotion, according to Vincent Ellis of Detroit Free Press.
Amid a regime change, Detroit and GM Jeff Bower have parted ways, league sources tell ESPN. Bower has been a GM for two playoff franchises, as well an an NBA and NCAA head coach.
