Pelicans reportedly talked to Dallas, Atlanta on Omer Asik trade before sending him to Chicago

Before sending Omer Asik to Chicago, the New Orleans Pelicans had talked about a deal that would have sent him and a first-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

The Dallas Mavericks also discussed an Omer Asik trade with the Pelicans that involved Alexis Ajinca and Wesley Matthews, but the Mavs were hesitant to take on two undesirable multiyear contracts, per Scotto.
