Willie Reed expected to opt out of his $1.6M contract with Heat, hopes to re-sign in Miami

Reed unlikely to remain in Florida?

NBA
Willie Reed will opt out of his $1.6 million contract for next season with the Miami Heat to test the free agency and sign a better deal.
Reed would love to remain in Miami but it won’t be easy for the Heat to re-sign him.
The forward averaged 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in 71 games this season.

Per Palm Beach Post, But will it be Reed’s only season with the Heat? He is expected to turn down his $1.6 million player option with Miami to enter free agency this summer, as more money is expected to be available on the open market.

With the Heat expected to have about $38 million in cap space after it clears Chris Bosh’s contract off their salary cap, Miami needs to prioritize its free agents. And if the Heat want to bring back this season’s core, their top two priorities are expected to be re-signing James Johnson and Dion Waiters with Reed farther down the list.
“We all have families,” Reed said when asked about his free-agent situation. “We all want to be a part of something special. I love this team, I love these guys in the locker room. Being here would be great. Hopefully something works out. I don’t know what’s going to happen”.
