Hawks offered more than three first round picks to get George from Pacers or Butler from Bulls?

Hawks tried the big move before the deadline

NBA

The Atlanta Hawks made just a little trade on the deadline set for February 23 at 2pm, East Coast Time.
The Hawks sent Mike Scott to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for cash consideration.

But the Atlanta Hawks tried to make the best trade of the year by acquiring Paul George from the Indiana Pacers or Jimmy Butler from the Chicago Bulls.
The odds were against them, according to this famous bookie software.

But despite the odds, they made a huge offer to Indiana and Chicago to obtain one of their stars.
The Hawks, according to one of the top NBA insiders, Marc Stein of ESPN, made pick centric trade offers to the Indiana Pacers and the Bulls.

What Stein added is that the Hawks put on the table more than three first round picks to add a superstar to their roster.

But the Indiana Pacers decided to keep Paul George with the hope to re-sign him to a multi-year contract extension in the summer as designated veteran player. The offer that the Pacers will make is expected to be for more than $200 million.

Paul George's plan was not to go the Atlanta Hawks. The goal of the member of Team USA National Team was to remain with the team from Indianapolis or go to the Los Angeles Lakers of the new president Magic Johnson.

This is what Paul George told the Indianapolis Star when the trade deadline expired: "I was kind of on the ropes just like you guys were on what was about to happen. It was kind of a dark moment of uncertainty and that was the frustrating part. You want me to be your guy here, I thought I would have been in the loop a little more on that. We’ve got to keep getting better. We’ve got to know who’s going to be helpful going forward and who we’re building around. That’s the only thing we can take away from these next 25 games. We can’t go into the second half or go into it next season with any mediocrity. We’ve got to just improve. That’s what it comes down to."
