Heat re-sign Okaro White, waive Derrick Williams

The Miami HEAT announced today that they have re-signed Okaro White and waived forward Derrick Williams. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

White, who was previously signed to two 10-day contracts, appeared in nine games with the HEAT over that span and averaged 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 16.4 minutes while shooting 48 percent (12-of-25) from the field, 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from three-point range and a perfect 7-of-7 from the foul line.

Earlier this season, White appeared in 23 games (all starts) for the HEAT’s NBA Development League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, and averaged 18.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.09 steals and 33.0 minutes while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 86 percent from the foul line. He helped the Skyforce to a division best 16-5 record while ranking second on the team in points (424), rebounds (201), field goals made (144), three-point field goals made (38) and free throws made (98).

Williams, who was originally signed as a free agent by the HEAT on July 10, appeared in 25 games (11 starts) with Miami this season and averaged 5.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 15.1 minutes while shooting 39.4 percent from the field.
