Brooklyn Nets center Andray Blatche is a big step closer to representing the Philippines at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.
The Philippines, recently drawn in Group B of the competition that tips off on 30 August with Argentina, Greece, Puerto Rico, Croatia and Senegal, are looking to naturalize the 27-year-old.
According to media reports in the country, the House committee on justice in the Philippines on Wednesday approved a bill for for the naturalization of Blatche.
The big man still has to appear before a Philippines consulate and be interviewed.
He also just express his intention to become citizen of the country.
