Paul George and Kevin Durant named NBA Players of the Month

The two players are the best of the month

Indiana Pacers' Paul George and the Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant were today named the Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in October/November.

 

George led the Pacers to a league-best 15-1 (.938) record, scoring in double figures in all 16 outings, including 13 games with 20-or-more points. George ranked fifth in the league in scoring (23.6 ppg) and was tied for seventh in steals (2.13 spg), while adding 6.1 rpg and 3.3 apg. George averaged 14.8 points and shot 51 percent from the floor in the second half of games in October and November. He recorded back-to-back double-doubles vs. Cleveland (Nov. 2) and Detroit (Nov. 5).

Durant guided the Thunder to an 11-3 record to start the season, including an 8-0 mark at Chesapeake Energy Arena, the best home start in the team's Oklahoma City era. Durant paced the NBA in scoring (28.3 ppg) on the back of six 30-plus-point performances, including a season-high 42 points in a 101-98 win over the Utah Jazz on Oct. 30. Additionally, he recorded six double-doubles during October and November.

--Oct. 30 @ New Orleans: Scored 32 points to go with six rebounds, five assists and two steals in a 95-90 win at New Orleans

--Nov. 5 @ Detroit: Notched a 31-point, 10-rebound double-double along with four assists and four steals in a 99-91 win over the Pacers

--Nov. 20 @ New York: Played a career-high 49 minutes, scoring 35 points to go with five rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocks in a 103-96 win at the Knicks

Kevin Durant

--Oct. 30 @ Utah: Scored a season-high 42 points to go with six rebounds, three steals and an assist in a 101-98 win at Utah

--Nov. 3 @ Phoenix: Finished with a 33-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 103-96 win at the Suns

--Nov. 10 vs. Washington: Recorded 33 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and a block in a 106-105 overtime victory over the Wizards

Other nominees for Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month were Golden State's Stephen Curry, Houston's Dwight Howard, Miami's LeBron James, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook, Orlando's Arron Afflalo, and Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge.
