Al Harrington buyout could be coming soon

The end Al Harrington's days with the Orlando Magic may be near.

According to HOOPSWORLD scribe Alex Kennedy, who's in Las Vegas to cover the NBA Summer League, the veteran big man could be a free agent soon. A fan at Summer League asked Harrington for which team he plays, to which question Harrington responded, "I'm about to be a free agent."

Harrington is owed $14.8 million over the next two seasons, according to ShamSports.com, but only half of that money is guaranteed. The Magic can realize some salary-cap savings by waiving Harrington outright or buying him out of his contract; only the buyout amount would remain on Orlando's cap sheet.
