Greg Ostertag has decide to retire
Il giocatore aveva provato a rientrare lo scorso dicembre
The brief flirtation with an NBA comeback has ended for Duncanville's Greg Ostertag.
The 7-2 center has been working for the past few weeks with the Frisco-based Texas Legends of the NBA Development League, but informed team co-owner Donnie Nelson that he has decided to retire.
"He gave it the good old college try,'' Nelson said. "His knees just wouldn't cooperate.''
Ostertag had played well at the D-League showcase in Reno, Nev., last week, including a 10-point, eight-rebound game in 21 minutes against Sioux Falls. But he couldn't play more than 10 minutes in any of his most recent three games.
Ostertag averaged 4.3 points and 5 rebounds in 10 games with the Legends.
Ostertag, 38, had said in late December that he was going to give himself a month to see if he could get in NBA game shape and get the attention of any teams, wanting to find out for sure if perhaps he had retired too soon after the 2005-06 season.
