ABA, expansion teams announced

Over the last week, the American Basketball Association (ABA) announced the addition of two new teams, as follows: one was Syracuse, NY. a team run by Charles 'Chuck' Iavarone, who was recalled by the US Army in 2008 to serve for the 39th Military Police Company from Minden, L.A. and is in a combat tour in Iraq where he is serving as part of the Army's Police Transition team. Chuck anticipates his return to the US in September. His team will be named the Syracuse ShockWave and his staff started to put things together. Another new team will be located in Kansas City, Missouri, under the ownership of Fame Sports & Entertainment. According to Joe Newman , ABA CEO, 'We feel that Kansas City is a tremendous market for the ABA. The key is strong ownership, management, marketing and community relations'. David Francis is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fame Sports & entertainment. It is the premiere sports and entertainment company in Kansas City and manages the careers and brands of professional athletes and entertainers as well as client representation, contract negotiation, endorsements, marketing and brand building. Christopher Brown is President and Managing Partner of Fame, and William Palmer is Chief Operating Officer and a Managing Partner.
