He played in Australia
McRae averaged 21.0 points in the 2014 NBA Summer League for the 76ers, a team that featured 87ers coaches Kevin Young and John Bryant on the staff.
The rookie guard spent his first season of development in Australia, playing 27 games for Melbourne United in the National Basketball League. McRae averaged 19.9 points in 29.9 minutes per game, and was NBL’s second-leading scorer. He hit 44.1 percent of his shots from the field, and also connected on 51 three-pointers over the course of the season, good for No. 5 in the league.
The 6-foot-5 scorer spent four years at the University of Tennessee, where he started all 37 games as a senior and averaged 18.7 points in 32.2 minutes per game.
McRae is the first 76ers draft rights held player to join the 87ers’ roster.
