Delaware 87ers acquire Maalik Wayns
He's back in the D-League
The Delaware 87ers today announced the team has acquired guard Maalik Wayns as a returning player. A Philly native, Wayns is a two-year NBA vet, having played with the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers over the past three seasons. The 6-foot-1 point guard played in 11 games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the 2013-14 season, where he averaged 12.3 points and 4.2 assists in 20.1 minutes.
As a junior at Villanova, Wayns averaged 17.6 points and 4.6 assists per game before opting for the NBA Draft. A standout at Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Wayns was named a McDonald’s All-American as a senior in 2009.
