MoraBanc Andorra officially named Ibon Navarro head coach
Navarro new head coach of Andorra
Morabanc Andorra has found a new coach in Ibon Navarro, who penned a two-year deal with his new club on Tuesday. Navarro, age 42, arrives from UCAM Murcia and led his team to the Basketball Champions League semifinals last season. Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Navarro started his coaching career with Baskonia's youth teams. He coached UPV Alava and took an assistant job at Tenerife before returning to Baskonia in 2007. Navarro would work as an assistant coach for the next seven years - three with Baskonia, one with Menorca Basquet and two more with Valencia Basket before returning to Vitoria-Gasteiz to help Sergio Scariolo. Baskonia promoted him to the head coach spot in the 2014-15 season, replacing Marco Crespi, and Navarro also coached Basquet Manresa for two years before joining Murcia. He won a silver medal at CentroBasket 2014 working for the Puerto Rican national team's coaching staff, led by Paco Olmos. Navarro, who reached the 2012 7DAYS EuroCup Finals with Valencia as an assistant coach, is now set to make his head coaching debut in the competition.
